WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has been adding new features and making the service easier to use for its customers. The latest upgrades demonstrate the app's dedication to enhancing the user experience.
WaBetaInfo reported Tuesday that the instant messaging software has unveiled a series of new capabilities for status updates for both Android and iOS smartphones in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp released a blog post introducing new status update options. Some of the features, however, are not new, although they are on the list of recent status update upgrades.
The messaging app has ensured that these functions, like all others, are safeguarded using end-to-end encryption. This is done to protect users' privacy by allowing them to communicate updates secretly and securely with the persons of their choosing.
Private audience selector
Users will be able to select who they want to share their status updates with using this feature. It gives a personalised experience to the messaging app by allowing users to choose who sees their status updates.
Voice status
This feature allows users to exchange up to 30 second voice remarks on status. It was announced as part of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.2.8 upgrade and the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.2.0.70 TestFlight version.
Status Reactions
This feature, similar to message reactions, allows users to respond to a status. They can respond with a heart-eye emoji, a tear of joy emoji, an open mouth emoji, an emoji, folded hands, clapping hands, a party popper, and 100 points.
Status profile rings for new updates
Users may utilise this functionality to see whether there is a status update immediately within the chat list. This functionality was made available to a larger number of individuals through the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.19.17 version.
Link previews on status
When users share a link as a status update, this feature allows them to share link previews.
According to WaBetaInfo, these capabilities are accessible on the app's Android, iOS, and desktop editions.
