The iPhone 16 series is expected to be revealed next month, and a source claims that display panels for the handsets have begun mass manufacturing. The OLED panels for the forthcoming iPhone series will be made by Samsung Display and LG Display, according to reports. Apple apparently expects increased demand for its devices and has urged suppliers to produce more units than the previous year. An earlier rumor suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro versions may gain bigger batteries.
iPhone 16 Series Display Panels Are Reportedly In Production
According to South Korean website ETNews, the Cupertino-based tech giant has requested its display suppliers to begin mass manufacture of the display modules. Subsequently, Samsung Display and LG Display are said to have transitioned to full-time OLED panel manufacture.
According to the report, the manufacture of OLED panels began last month. According to reports, this is due to Apple's increased demand for display units. The tech behemoth anticipates increased demand for iPhones in the market, most likely owing to the new Apple Intelligence capabilities.
This year, the business allegedly entrusted Samsung Display with producing 80 million display panels, while LG Display would deliver 43 million units. Notably, these two businesses were also the exclusive makers of Apple's smartphone displays last year.
According to the magazine, LG Display would benefit the most from this increasing demand. Its supply is believed to be boosted by more than 10 million units over the previous year. It will allegedly handle more than 30% of Apple's entire display shipment. This rise occurred after the business apparently obtained delayed clearance for mass manufacturing of iPhone 15 series screens and failed to meet the demand on time.
Separately, another rumor indicates that both iPhone 16 Pro versions may receive improved battery capacity. The iPhone 16 Pro might be powered by a 3,577mAh battery, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could have a 4,676mAh battery. While Apple does not publicly disclose the battery capacity of its handsets, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max versions feature 3,274mAh and 4,441mAh batteries, respectively.
