Huawei was said to be working on a triple-foldable smartphone in July. This decision was expected to benefit the Chinese business in the foldable smartphone category, particularly when competing with other brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi. Now, the alleged tri-fold smartphone has been discovered in the hands of a key Huawei executive. According to the tipster, it matches the prototype that the business created as part of its research and development.
Huawei's Tri-Fold Smartphone Leaked
According to Android Headlines, the Huawei tri-fold smartphone was discovered in the hands of Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. It looks to feature a big inner screen, which can be folded three times.
On Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) said that the gadget is comparable to a research and development prototype they previously had access to. Furthermore, the smartphone is rumored to include a 10-inch inner display with a hole-punch cutout for the front camera on the leftmost panel.
Despite being a tri-fold smartphone, it is thought to have a "average" thickness. The rumored Huawei device might be powered by a Kirin 9 series CPU, which was originally expected to power the next Huawei Mate 70 series in China. It is one of the most recent processors launched by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.
In a July post on X (previously Twitter), tipster Ice Universe predicted that Huawei might be the first manufacturer to offer a tri-fold smartphone. Samsung, which has one of the longest-running foldable smartphone series on the market, was thought to lag behind due to difficulties in making regular foldable devices slimmer. The tipster predicted that Huawei will have "no competitors for a long time after the release" at the time.
