The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is slated to debut early next year. Leaks and speculations have circulated for some time, with predictions that the devices would have an asymmetrical design as well as camera and other specification enhancements. During a recent earnings call, a Samsung executive discussed the Galaxy S25 series, hinting at potential advancements while also promoting the Galaxy S24 as the "world's first AI phone".
Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Upgrades
During Samsung Electronics' second-quarter earnings call in 2024, Daniel Araujo, Corporate Vice President of its Mobile eXperience (MX) business, discussed the company's future flagship smartphone portfolio, the Galaxy S25 series. According to the official, it will launch with "top-of-the-line upgrades" to the camera and display.
"And we're also preparing industry-best APs [application processors] and memory to boost AI performance and offer an overall premium experience" , Araujo commented.
In recent months, speculations have stated that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the company's flagship device, may receive two new image sensors, enhancing the capabilities of the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras. The Galaxy S24 Ultra's present ultra-wide sensor is expected to be replaced with a "new version of the 1/2.76-inch JN1 sensor," with the resolution perhaps up to 50 megapixels. The telephoto lens is also expected to have a new "1/3-inch ISOCELL sensor" that may be somewhat bigger than the current one.
The source also stated that Samsung is expanding Galaxy AI, its suite of artificial intelligence (AI) services, beyond smartphones to encompass ecosystem products including smartwatches, TWS earphones, Galaxy Ring, tablets, and Galaxy Book computers. It will also be embedded into software, such as the operating system (OS) and apps.
During the same call, Samsung acknowledged the existence of their future proprietary mobile processor, the Exynos 2500. It will be created by Samsung System's large-scale integration (LSI) division, and the business hopes to secure a consistent supply for its "flagship products". While Samsung did not identify the handsets, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to be one of the smartphones powered by this processor, but only in certain territories.
