Rumours about the iPhone SE 4 have been circulating for some months, despite the fact that Apple has yet to announce intentions to release a new inexpensive smartphone. The rumored device is likely to be the successor to the iPhone SE (2022), with significant improvements in design, chipset, and battery life. According to a new claim, Apple may employ the same OLED display as the iPhone 13, but with significant downgrades, perhaps lowering the Cupertino company's production costs.
iPhone SE 4 Display Details Leaked
The Elec says (in Korean) that Chinese supplier BOE Technology is believed to be the first to create screens for the rumored iPhone SE 4. It apparently secured the contract over Samsung owing to cheaper panel pricing, and it would provide 60-70 percent of Apple's total screens.
According to the article, BOE has previously experienced manufacturing challenges when producing OLED screens with the hole-punch cutout found in current models such as the iPhone 15. It is also said to be suffering with the manufacture of iPhone 16 screens, which are set to be released later this year.
iPhone SE 4 specifications (expected)
In terms of optics, the smartphone may include a single 48-megapixel back camera. It is rumored to be powered by Apple's next-generation A18 processor, together with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The device may have Face ID instead of Touch ID, and it is believed to contain a USB Type-C connection to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Meanwhile, LG Display might be Apple's second supplier for the device, with the company anticipated to provide the remaining panels. According to the journal, Apple is likely to repurpose the 6.1-inch Super XDR screens that were initially built for the iPhone 13 – a move that is expected to help Apple lower smartphone manufacturing costs and streamline production procedures.
Previous sources also indicate that the iPhone SE 4 would have a major design overhaul, with Apple scrapping its classic smartphone design with a home button in favor of a more contemporary style influenced by its current smartphone models. It is said to have a 6.06-inch OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate.
