Famous Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy disclosed that even after winning an Oscar, he was made fun of by close friends.
Murphy, who won an Academy Award earlier this year for "Best Actor" for his role in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, said that his brother and closest friends slapped him at the ceremony.
'Slagging' is one of the most profound ways to express devotion in Ireland, he claims.
"There was a lot of healthy slagging," the Batman Begins star said in an interview with Telegraph. One of the most profound expressions of affection in Ireland is slagging.
My brother and best friend surprised me by flying out on the day of the Oscars. The amount of slagging they did was tremendous. It's a reasonable aim.
Cillian claimed that despite his widespread celebrity, he has chosen to relish the ridicule.
It would be quite uncomfortable if you approached that with any skepticism or a sense that you didn't want to be there. Murphy continued, "I decided to enjoy it because my family was there and we were surrounded by wonderful people, including co-stars Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr."
The 48-year-old Irish actor is currently working on the next Peaky Blinders movie, which will be available on Netflix. He currently plays an amazing part in the movie Small Things Like These.
