Before meeting Avan Jogia, Halsey had never imagined herself being married to anyone.
In September, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter announced that she was engaged to the 32-year-old Victorious alum. But as she disclosed when she spoke on the Call Her Daddy podcast on October 30th, she wasn't always in favor of the constitution of marriage.
Halsey said, "Avan," in response to host Alex Cooper's question on what changed.
"I didn't truly see the purpose of marriage... I thought, "Well, just be together if you love each other," Halsey said.
Something changed with Jogia, though: "I just knew I wanted to marry him because of something with him."
In Barcelona, where they had spent some of their early years together, the pair got engaged.
Halsey told Cooper, "It's really special to us because it's kind of where we first started hanging out."
"I wasn't sure that I was ready, but I was also kind of like, 'You're literally the most amazing, smartest, hottest, nicest person I've ever met, so don't go anywhere,'" she said, acknowledging that she was first taken by surprise but immediately knew her response. I'm attempting to solve it.
The recently engaged couple has not yet had a chance to completely rejoice because Jogia had to leave for a filming gig in Canada after the proposal.
"We haven't had much opportunity to be 'engaged,'" Halsey chuckled, but she can't wait for him to get back.
