A final autopsy confirmed Gene Hackman's official cause of death.
According to the official autopsy acquired from the Office of the Medical Investigator in New Mexico, the 95-year-old actor's corpse revealed a "history of congestive heart failure" as well as "severe chronic hypertensive changes, kidneys."
The text also identified "neurodegenerative features" associated with Alzheimer's disease.
"Autopsy showed severe atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with placement of coronary artery stents and a bypass graft, as well as a previous aortic valve replacement," according to Fox News, which cited the paperwork.
"Remote myocardial infarctions involving the left ventricular free wall and septum were found to be substantially big. An examination of the brain revealed tiny evidence of advanced Alzheimer's disease.
While his wife Betsy died from Hantavirus, Gene tested negative for the rodent-borne illness.
The actor's body also showed no excessive amounts of carbon monoxide, which had previously been linked to the couple's death.
Experts also concluded that the elevated amounts of blood acetone observed in the body may be the result of extended fasting.
Hackman is thought to have died on February 18th, according to the last documented activity on the star's pacemaker.
The findings revealed an aberrant rhythm of atrial fibrillation, which produces an erratic and typically rapid heartbeat.
Chief Medical Investigator Dr Heather Jarrell previously suspected that 65-year-old Betsy died first, leaving Hackman unable to care for himself in his fragile position.
Arakawa's 65-year-old body was discovered deteriorated, with bloating on her face and mummification in her hands and feet. Hackman had comparable indications of disintegration.
