Princess Catherine is recalled once more by the mother of renowned young photographer Liz Hatton, who died in November from a rare type of cancer.
Liz's mother, Vicky Robayna, explained that the Princess of Wales' kind gesture for her daughter helped generate funding, culminating in the start of a research initiative that would assist other families dealing with the desmoplastic small round cell tumor.
The future Queen and Prince William welcomed Liz to Windsor Castle in October 2024, where she not only met the pair but also photographed them at a royal function.
Vicky said during an interview with The Mirror: "We are thrilled - the research will help people in those terrifying early stages after diagnosis get the support and information they need so they can make the most of the time they have, which is all Liz wanted."
It is worth noting that Princess Kate herself was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024, following her planned abdominal surgery. The mother of three is presently in remission after receiving prophylactic chemotherapy.
