Prince William sent a strong message to King Charles about the monarchy's future by assuming authority before attaining the throne.
The Prince of Wales has engaged Mishcon de Reya, the law firm that represented his late mother Princess Diana during her controversial divorce from Charles.
The Daily Mail said that William had cut relations with Harbottle & Lewis, the solicitors who had defended the King and royals for decades.
According to In Touch, the future King is "forging his own path" by hiring a divorce lawyer, which has nothing to do with his marriage.
William has "already made incremental changes at the palace for when he's officially in charge," including rules for lengthy royal trips and a focus on family life, in contrast to previous royals.
The Prince of Wales "has not only made a huge break with royal tradition, but it's also rather embarrassing for Charles," according to an insider.
According to the article, William trusts the new lawyers he has recruited. Notably, the father of three is "flexing his independence by showing he's willing to reject the status quo."
