The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series is rumored to be under development as the successor to the Galaxy Watch 7 range. Ahead of its planned release later this year, it has apparently been seen on a certification site, implying that Samsung would bring back its famous Galaxy Watch 'Classic' model. Last year, the South Korean tech behemoth ignored this variation when it introduced the Galaxy Watch 7 in different sizes, as well as a new Galaxy Watch model. However, the rumored Galaxy Watch 8 Classic may possibly see the light of day.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Launch
The putative Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, model number SM-L505U, was first identified by XpertPick and has achieved Bluetooth SIG certification. While the listing does not offer any further information, it confirms prior reports that Samsung may reintroduce the 'Classic' model as part of its flagship smartwatch range this year.
Although the regular and Classic Galaxy Watch models have identical functionality, the latter has proven to be a popular option among consumers. This is partly owing to the incorporation of a spinning physical dial, which gives it a more classic watch appearance while also providing smartwatch functions.
Notably, the Galaxy Watch 7 series was released in July of last year without the Classic or Pro models. Instead, Samsung announced the normal Galaxy Watch 7 model in a variety of sizes, as well as a new Galaxy Watch Ultra, which competes with the Apple Watch Ultra.
Notably, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic has been mentioned before. Previously, a supposed smartwatch with the identical model number was spotted in the GSMA database. The SafetyKorea website announced shortly afterward that it had achieved battery certification. The battery model number for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (SM-L505U) was listed as EB-BL505ABY.
As the launch date approaches, more information is likely to become available. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, along with the conventional variant, is expected to launch later this year, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
