Tina Knowles found writing Matriarch tough for a variety of reasons, one of which was so important that she nearly gave up on it.
The 71-year-old entrepreneur revealed that she believed no one would be interested in reading her biography because "I thought [people] only wanted to know all my kids' business." "They are not going to be interested in me."
In an interview with People Magazine, she said, "I've lived this incredible life, and you really don't realize it until you start writing everything down."
Sharing an insight into her writing path, the fashion designer added, "It wasn't meant to be a memoir. I planned to offer a behind-the-scenes look at Destiny's Child and the entertainment industry in general.
At the earliest phases of her book, she sought to avoid unpleasant issues. "It was very carefully written at first," she told me. "But then it was like, this doesn't really make sense because there's only the good things. And there was a lot of positivism, but no, I didn't intend to write that."
Although because of the nature of her children's, Beyonce and Solange's, job, I'm always encouraged to keep quiet, and it's not that I enjoy speaking up, but sometimes I just have to — I do, because it just becomes too much."
Knowles was now able to write in depth about the entire aspects of her life through her book, which was now complete.
