Bindi Irwin gave some details about her health struggle ahead of her emergency surgery.
A few hours before being hospitalized on May 10 with a ruptured appendix, the Australian television personality discussed her issue with endometriosis, calling it "a big journey," and revealed how she is managing it.
"I feel so bad because most women that I talk to, their endometriosis journey has been years and years and years of their life desperately searching for answers and help," she told the newspaper E!
The environmentalist continued: "And my hope is that by sharing my story, sharing my journey living with endometriosis will give other people the courage to continue to stand up for themselves."
Irwin stated that she suffered with the symptoms for over ten years before receiving a diagnosis.
"All I want is to help other people that are in the same position," she told me. "Because it's a really lonely sickness too... It might make you feel extremely alienated because of every canceled plan, every time you urgently want to engage in life but can't."
Irwin provided an update on her health just a day before heading to the emergency room for her appendix, which caused her to miss her family's annual Steve Irwin Gala because she was in Las Vegas at the time.
Her brother Robert Irwin informed People that the procedure was a success.
