Jeremy Renner spoke candidly about why the Disney+ miniseries Hawkeye did not receive a season 2.
During a recent interview with the High Performance social media platform, Jeremy, who plays the Avenger across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, explained why he declined the invitation to reprise his role as Clint Barton.
Jeremy explained the reason for his reluctance, stating that he was offered a considerably decreased income and hence refused the offer.
"They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money," he said.
"I'm like, Well, it's going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount," Jeremy went on:
He also mentioned his near-fatal snowplow mishap from 2023, saying, "I'm like, 'I'm sorry. Why did you assume I'm just half of Jeremy because I was run over?"
"Maybe that's why you want to pay me half of what I made in the first season?" the actor, who has since recovered from his life-threatening injuries, said.
"This isn’t Marvel. This isn't truly Disney; it's just the penny pinchers - the accountants," he said, admitting that the hefty wage decrease was a "insult" to his abilities.
"So, unfortunately, we disagreed on it. I still adore the character and would like to play it, but I needed to protect myself," he said.
