Royal experts have recently expressed their admiration for King Charles and Kate Middleton for putting the public's needs ahead of their own.
Phil Dampier, a royal specialist, expressed his thanks in an interview with The Sun.
He described the "VE Day celebration" as an emotional and momentous occasion for the royal family.
"I thought it was a very, very poignant moment because this is the first time there hasn't been a royal standing on that balcony to commemorate the VE Day since the end of the war," he said at the beginning.
"In other words, with the death of the Queen. She was the final person to stand on the balcony with Winston Churchill at the conclusion of the war to commemorate VE Day a few years ago, and I believe Charles was thinking about that. "I believe the other royals were thinking about that."
Additionally, "I think Princess Anne would have been thinking about her mother and her father in particular and it was quite a poignant moment, because, you know, Prince Philip fought in the war."
In addition, "the Queen obviously served in the war as well, and was there, and remembered it and lived through it," according to him. "And so there is the sadness at the passing of time that we're losing that generation."
Mr Dampier also stated, "And the next VE Day celebration, unfortunately, very few veterans will be with us, and I think that really drove it home." The King was clearly emotional. I thought Catherine, Princess of Wales, looked extremely emotional."
Yet "they will have been thinking about their own personal battles with cancer, but really today was was all about the veterans, and it was all about thanking them for their service and thanking people who remembered, remembered the events of 80 years ago," the expert's report ended.
