Meghan Markle's usage of her royal title in private has been described as "murky territory" and perhaps hypocritical by an expert.
According to The Sun's royal journalist Katie Nicholl, the Duchess of Sussex sending a gift basket inscribed "HRH The Duchess of Sussex" to her friend raises concerns.
She stated that Meghan has often questioned the royal institution, and that continuing to use the title is merely a "hypocrisy element."
The expert said that, while Meghan has adopted Harry's surname, her continued use of the HRH title and "Duchess of Sussex" maintains her connected to royal life's advantages.
"I think it just poses a bit of a hypocrisy element... you've attacked this institution many, many times, most recently in a podcast, which we've just heard this week," she told me.
Nicholl went on, "And yet you want to keep all of the perks and privileges that come with being a member of that institution."
"Which is, of course, the titles, because I think if they are just Harry and Meghan Sussex, since that is her name, she is correct in saying she is no longer a Markle.
"When you marry, most people take their husband's name, which is what she has done. However, she does not required to use the HRH title.
"She doesn't really need to use the title Duchess of Sussex. But, of course, this distinguishes her from everyone else, especially A-list Hollywood celebs.
