Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has suffered a significant legal setback after losing his security case.
On May 2nd, 2025, Harry's request to resume taxpayer-funded armed police protection in the UK for himself and his family, as he had before stepping down from royal responsibilities in the UK, was denied.
Despite accusations that his life was "at stake" and that he and his family, which included wife Meghan Markle and children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were in danger when visiting the United Kingdom, the Court of Appeal decided against him.
The legal team of King Charles' youngest son insisted that he was "singled out" for "unjustified, inferior treatment," but the court agreed with the decision made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which downgraded the Duke of Sussex's security following "Megxit."
It's worth noting that, while the lawsuit has already cost Harry almost £500,000, his sole choice is to file an appeal with the Supreme Court.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who married in 2018, will stand aside from their royal positions in 2020.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
