Shōgun has received several honors in its debut season, making it a fan favorite.
The FX program won Best International Series at the BAFTA TV Awards. In his victory speech, showrunner Justin Marks emphasized the series' worldwide collaboration.
"You have a bunch of Americans who got together with a bunch of Europeans and a bunch of Japanese and made a show in Canada, and now we are standing here on stage in England," the program's creator said.
He went on: "That we are on stage is truly a testament to the spirit of grand international collaboration that our crew of 3,000 people espoused."
"It's a spirit that is tragically leaving the world right now. The showrunner expressed gratitude to BAFTA for recognizing the premise that excellent television transcends national boundaries.
Meanwhile, shooting for the highly anticipated season two will begin in Vancouver in January 2026.
There are little details available regarding the plot. However, the second season's events will take place a decade after the events of the first season.
