Apple released the watchOS 11.5 and macOS 15.5 updates on Monday, and the latest versions of these operating systems include a few new capabilities. The business has made it easier to buy content using an Apple Watch while using Apple TV on a third-party device. Meanwhile, with the macOS 15.5 release, the business expanded its parental control tools. Apple will introduce the latest generations of its operating system next month at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025).
WatchOS 11.5 and macOS 15.5 updates: What’s New
After updating to watchOS 11.5, customers will notice a new Pride Harmony wallpaper, which complements the company's newest wristwatch model's better always-on display mode. This implies that when you use this watch face on the Apple Watch Series 10, the hand representing seconds will move even when the display is muted in always-on mode. Activity Digital, Flux, Reflections, and Unity Rhythm are some of the other watch faces that enable this feature on the newest model.
The most recent version includes a new button that allows users to purchase content from their Apple Watch while using the Apple TV app on a third-party device, such as an Android TV or smartphone. Apple has also solved a fault that caused a notice to not appear on a linked iPhone when the Apple Watch battery was completely charged.
Meanwhile, the macOS 15.5 update has just one significant change that customers will see after enabling parental controls on Apple devices for their children. When a youngster enters a Screen Time passcode (used to manage settings) on his or her phone after installing macOS 15.5, parents will receive a message. This will notify a parent or guardian if a youngster learns to guess the passcode used to administer these settings.
Apple is likely to release watchOS 12 and macOS 16 next month, along with iOS 19 and iPadOS 19. These upgrades are likely to provide new designs as well as support for further artificial intelligence (Apple Intelligence) features on compatible devices. We can expect to learn more when Apple announces its next operating system improvements on June 9, 2025, at WWDC.
