RIYADH: Formula E CEO Jamie Reigle has praised Saudi Arabia for this year's two-day Diriyah extravaganza, as the sport continues to grow in the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Sport, promoter CBX, the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, and the country's motorsport enthusiasts welcomed Formula E to the venue for the fifth year this season, according to Reigle.
"The 2023 CORE Diriyah E-Prix also marked the Middle East premiere of the Gen3 race car – the quickest, lightest, most powerful, and efficient electric race car ever created," he explained.
"The Diriyah street circuit is a particular venue for all of our drivers, allowing them to put their abilities to the test and push the technological potential of the car to its limits."
Reigle went on to say that the races in Diriyah continue to exceed expectations, providing a spectacular athletic spectacle that helps draw the world's attention to Saudi Arabia.
"From the top racing drivers to internationally famous music performers, a breathtaking drone display, and our most spectacular podium to date," he added, "we are happy to have successfully presented a live event on a scale never seen before in Saudi Arabia."
"This is our sixth time," said Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Gate Development Authority. Electric automobiles thrilled Diriyah, the Kingdom's birthplace, the house of Al-Saud, with delight. It's a huge victory for Formula E and Diriyah."
He went on to say that Formula E complemented Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's vision.
"The minute you have something excellent, how do we do better?" he said.
It's a victory and a testament to the crown prince's vision for Diriyah, Formula E, and innovation.
"When you become great, the crown prince will push you to become even greater."
"The atmosphere at the Diriyah E-Prix was great, and it was wonderful to see our Lucid Air vehicles on the track as the official course car fleet," said Faisal Sultan, vice president and managing director of Lucid Middle East. VIPs, celebrities, visitors, and media were also treated to several electrifying laps around the Diriyah track."
"Formula E is a terrific platform for us," said Guillaume Cartier, Nissan's chairman for Africa, the Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania.
"When you look at Nissan in the future, we're banking on the electric car and this technology, so it's a logical platform to demonstrate what we're capable of." We have a track to road strategy, which means that what we test on the track will be used in cars sold to customers.
"When I see the excitement and the quantity of people, it's fantastic. The country's welcome and the platform are lovely."
