Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, has said that she constantly instructs her kids to "smile" in public because no one wants to see a "grumpy princess."
Ferguson first delivered this advise to her children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, but others believe she also assisted Meghan Markle with her words.
On the newest edition of her podcast, Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah, the Duchess of York discussed etiquette tactics and recommendations, saying, "I always say to my girls: when you're out on the public stage, smile."
"And if you don't want to be polite, don't go out on the public stage — because no one wants to see a grumpy princess," the 63-year-old continued. You've heard me say that before."
Ferguson's comments follow Meghan Markle's latest appearance, in which she seemed disgruntled after losing her Spotify agreement.
Ferguson continued, "So I think the most important thing is that you've got to get your game on."
Following the announcement that her Archetypes podcast had not been extended for a second season on Spotify, the Duchess was photographed without her usual bright smile on a recent outing. She appeared nervous when she went out of the house in Montecito without her husband or children.
Meghan Markle was seen without her normal radiant smile during a recent excursion following the news that her Archetypes podcast had not been renewed for a second season on Spotify. She appeared nervous when she went out of the house in Montecito without her husband or children.
Princesses Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 33, are not members of the royal family who work. They both work and earn their own money, much like Meghan Markle.
In addition to teaching her daughters proper manners, the Duchess of York was one of the persons who assisted Meghan Markle in doing her first curtsy when she met Queen Elizabeth.
"It's important to be thoughtful about it... there are little girls that I meet and they're just like, 'Oh my goodness, it's a real-life princess,'" said Outspoken TV presenter Piers Morgan.
