Prince Harry has been alienated from his father for the past two years, and despite reports of a reconciliation, there are no indications of healing.
For Express.co.uk, royal expert Robert Jobson described an impending yearly meeting at Balmoral that will be the first without Queen Elizabeth II for the Royal Family.
Every year at the end of summer, the royals assemble in the Scottish castle, a tradition established by the late Queen because she believed it to be "mostly a happy place."
Except for a few close family members, the invitation will be extended to many close family members this year, with Charles as King and Camilla as Queen.
Jobson cited a source as saying that, in addition to Prince William and Kate Middleton, Anne, Princess Royal, and Zara Tindall are expected to be invited. There is also a chance that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson may attend.
The unexpected guests are Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
"They have been given a 'open invite' to join family gatherings by the Palace, but no personal olive branch has been extended by the King for the summer getaway," Jobson wrote.
Jobson quoted a source as saying, "There is not much dialogue, if any, between the King and his second son."
Previously, a source quoted by Us Weekly revealed the father and son's poor relationship and how there was still hope for reconciliation.
The King "loves his son," according to the insider, but "he wishes to avoid Harry and Meghan until he sees some positive change on their end."
