Jeremy Renner's journey to rehabilitation appears to be going well as he defies the odds.
Seven months after his near-fatal accident, the Hawkeye actor was photographed walking without a cane.
Renner was on her way to Kate Beckinsale's 50th birthday party with buddy Casey Affleck. According to Entertainment Tonight, he was dressed for the event in a light blue shirt, white trousers and a denim jacket.
The Rennervations star, 52, was spotted for the first time without his cane since resurfacing publicly following the snowplough accident that almost killed him on New Year's Day.
Previous rumours stated that the Avengers actor might take years to recuperate due to the severity of his injuries.
Renner's chest had been crushed, and his upper body had collapsed, according to RadarOnline. He also had a terrible bleeding head wound and a leg injury.
"Jeremy was in a lot of pain and had trouble breathing," a source told the magazine. "He knew he was in bad shape and that he might not make it out of this."
Renner confirmed as much while discussing the event with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America in April.
"If I had been there alone, that would have been a horrible way to die," he remarked. "And I'm sure I would have. Surely. But I wasn't alone myself. Alex, my nephew, was there. And then the rest of the cavalry arrived."
Renner's ribs and eye socket were reconstructed with metal, he was fitted with a titanium rod in his leg, and his mouth is now kept together by rubber bands and screws.
