Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has offered his best wishes to the England team after they overcame Nigeria on penalties to go to the Women's World Cup quarter-finals.
England defeated Nigeria 4-2 on penalties on Monday to advance to the Women's World Cup quarterfinals after their last-16 match ended 0-0 at the end of extra time.
Chloe Kelly netted the game-winning penalty kick in the shootout to send European champions England through to the final eight, where they will face Colombia or Jamaica.
The Lionesses team announced the startling news on their official Twitter account.
In response, Prince William tweeted, "Well done @Lionesses! We battled hard, but we made it to the quarter-finals. "Best wishes."

The future king was elected president of the Football Association in 2006 and has been a vocal supporter of women's football.
He has also visited their training facility in preparation for the World Cup.
