On August 17, Red Dead Redemption will be released on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. No, this isn't a remake or the long-rumored remastered version; rather, it's a port of the original 2010 game, complete with the Undead Nightmare zombie add-on. Rockstar Games' Western epic was initially released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, although it was later made backwards compatible with newer Xbox platforms via backwards compatibility. Double Eleven Studios, known for their work on the Lego Harry Potter games and Minecraft Dungeons, is in charge of this latest 'conversion.' Ex-Rockstar developers started the studio.
Aside from not having a PC release, the next Red Dead Redemption adaptation is priced at $49.99 (about Rs. 4,140) on both the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. There are no aesthetic or quality-of-life enhancements, no multiplayer, and no mention of 60fps support, which is amusing given that the game can be played at that framerate on emulators. Fans are understandably disappointed, with some speculating that any sought additional features will be added in a future remake or remaster released by Rockstar Games. The exorbitant pricing for a 13-year-old game isn't helping either, especially when compared to the price on the Xbox store, which is just $29.99/Rs. 1,499. The conversion appears to be a cash grab, and given how poorly Rockstar's previous remake Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition performed, people are understandably anxious.
On August 17, the beloved Western experience Red Dead Redemption and its horror companion Undead Nightmare arrive together for the first time on the Nintendo Switch and modern PlayStation systems.

Recently, famous dataminer Lance McDonald created a 60fps patch for Bloodborne to operate on the PS5, with no footage upscaling. With the announcement of the Red Dead Redemption port by Rockstar Games, he stepped in, tweeting: "If a handful of hobbyists can get Red Dead Redemption 2 and Bloodborne running at 60fps on PS5 with no official docs or access, Sony could easily toss a couple of staff in an office and fart the job out the door." He argues that this is a Sony-related issue, despite the fact that Microsoft had no trouble updating Dark Souls 3 to run at 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X. Video game modder 'illusion' was also able to run RDR2 at 60fps on a modified PS5 with firmware 3.00-4.51 – something Rockstar should've done a long time ago given that 60fps is the current-gen console norm.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption 1, and it follows former criminal John Marston as he goes across the vast American West in search of the last remaining members of the renowned Van der Linde gang. It also added the Honour system, in which NPCs would react favourably if John did good actions and severely if his morals was weak. The Red Dead Redemption version will contain new supported languages such as Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Latin American Spanish in addition to the normal single-player experience. Of course, it will also be playable on the PS5. The new title, 'Rockstar Games Presents: Red Dead Redemption,' led many to assume that a remaster was on the way.
