After analysing the impact of SAG-AFTRA strike restrictions on performers and the manner they may describe their body of work, American musician and actor Zachary Levi stirred a heated controversy among fans.
Taking to TikTok, the 42-year-old actor discussed the SAG-AFTRA strike guidelines, namely the constraints on performers.
"I'm not allowed to talk about — this is so stupid," he remarked. I'm not permitted to discuss any of my prior work." He also stated that he is not permitted to discuss any of his former films or television series.
According to a US publication, his comments elicited varied reactions from fans, with some supporting Zachary by claiming that he was only attempting to entertain the crowd. Some followers, on the other hand, slammed him, claiming that the strike was not to be laughed at because it was a labour issue.
"If actors want to complain, they should complain to studios, not to the union trying to save their jobs," one Twitter user raged.
Another critic pointed out that the performers are still permitted to speak without revealing the projects they worked on before to the strike.
SAG-AFTRA is on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for improved health care, residual benefits, and pay, as well as to oppose the penetration of Artificial Intelligence's (AI) generative fill in the entertainment sector.
Zachary has been outspoken about the strike price. In a July Instagram post, the actor complained that the studio execs don't care about human life, or even life in general. Profits are important to them.
