Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz expressed their happiness at partnering on Kravitz's directorial debut, Blink Twice.
Tatum spoke exclusively to PEOPLE at the film's premiere on August 8 at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, describing the experience as incredibly satisfying.
"It's probably one of the most gratifying things you can do, besides having a child with someone," Tatum told me.
He compared the creative process to constructing a relationship, saying, "It's like creating a marriage or something from the ground up."
This project is everything we are, and we wanted to do it with individuals we care about."
During the Los Angeles premiere of the film, Zoë Kravitz praised Channing Tatum for their collaboration and how it strengthened their friendship.
Speaking with PEOPLE, the 35-year-old actress and director discussed how working on the film enhanced their friendship.
"Going through a creative project like this with someone brings you closer and builds a lot of trust," Kravitz told me.
"We supported each other through tough moments, and it was truly beautiful."
Kravitz expressed her gratitude for his persistent support in her passionate introductory words before to the film showing.
"From producing and performing to giving pep speeches and soothing me when I felt I'd messed everything up, you were there for me.
"Thank you for your patience and for allowing me to be my true, OCD self," she stated.
