James Corden recently broke his silence on Lily Allen's "beg friend" remark.
Last month, Lily described James as her "famous beg friend" on the BBC podcast Miss Me?, stating, "He came on my chat show and was very flirtatious with me, and we sort of made friends, and I introduced him to a group of my friends."
Lily lashed back at James when he wrote about the actress in his biography, May I Have Your Attention, as if she was "leading him on or something," to which she responded, "I definitely wasn't."
During the BBC podcast, she described the time period as "a bit hazy."
According to a source close to James, the former presenter of The Late Late Show considered Lily's comments "tacky".
According to the source, "James receives a lot of criticism for how he handles people on a regular basis and is a very polarizing figure. So, when Lily recently spoke negatively about him, James saw it as simply another day in his life, another hater.
"He believes he has never been desperate and deserves better and is pretty much over people talking about him in a negative way," according to an insider.
However, the insider said, "The only way that will change is when he starts to change."
Meanwhile, according to the insider, James "doesn't get why he upsets so many people because he is just being himself".
