Molly Kearney leaves 'Saturday Night Live' after Punkie Johnson

 

Molly Kearney announced her departure from Saturday Night Live only one day after Punkie Johnson declared that she will not be returning for the show's upcoming 50th season.

Molly Kearney, the show's first nonbinary cast member, joined SNL in 2022 and announced her departure on social media.

"That wraps up my stint on Saturday Night Live! Reflecting on the great two seasons I had on this program, it was like a dream come true. "So incredibly grateful for this period in my life," Kearney captioned an Instagram picture featuring a carousel of photographs from the SNL set.

"So much love to all my big-hearted friends behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week. So many bald crowns and so little time. It was a great honor to collaborate with such a wonderful bunch of authors, and don't even get me started on the cast."

Kearney also remembered her "day 1 crew," with a "special shout out" to cast mates Marcello Hernandez, Devon Walker, and Michael Longfellow.

"Head up and heart out!" Kearney finished.
