Wesley Snipes' cameo appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine set several records.
According to Deadline, Guinness World Records stated earlier this week that the American actor and martial artist has gained two titles to his resume by repeating his role as Blade in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's current film.
Snipes, 62, debuted as the live-action character in 1998's standalone film Blade.
With his freshly acquired Guinness record for the Longest Career as a Live-Action Marvel Character, Snipes dethroned Jackman, 55.
Snipes' return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe marks nearly 26 years since he originally played Eric Brooks, the half-vampire Daywalker. In contrast, Jackman made his debut as Logan, the Wolverine, in the 2000 film X-Men.
Snipes also holds the record for the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films.
After more than 19 years after his last appearance in Blade: Trinity in 2004, he reclaimed the new title, which Alfred Molina had previously acquired with his comeback as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), 17 years after Spider-Man 2 (2004).
Furthermore, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Snipes, who originally co-starred with Reynolds in Blade: Trinity, revealed that his appearance was surprising for him, saying he "did not think it was possible."
"I didn't believe Marvel was into it. He said, "Disney was into it at the time."
