Prince Harry, who completed the seventh day of the Invictus Games 2025, smiled as he received a new honor during a special visit.
The Duke of Sussex paid a visit to the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, a First Nations band government in British Columbia, which is hosting an adapted sports championship.
He spoke with youth ambassadors and advocates who are "honouring their ancestors' legacy and ensuring the continuation of the First Nations' rich traditions" as they shape their futures.
During the visit, Harry was honored during the traditional blanketing ritual, when he was "blanketed" in a "profoundly moving moment".
"Being blanketed is the highest honour, symbolising protection, respect, and recognition of one's journey," according to a statement given by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's office.
"It is a strong and spiritual act that represents the warmth and embrace of the community, providing a profound sense of belonging and togetherness. Prince Harry expressed his heartfelt thanks for the honor of being greeted in such a meaningful way.
The email also said that "healing was a central theme throughout the visit, with a shared understanding of the resilience required to overcome adversity and the vital role of community support in that journey."
This is the first time a member of the British royal family has received such a warm greeting from the First Nations people.
