The Princess of Wales demonstrated her ability to easily connect with people during her recent visit to a women's jail in Cheshire.
Kate, 43, began her gradual return to royal engagements with a visit to HMP Styal, an institution for female convicts, including juvenile offenders over 18.
The jail houses people serving terms for a variety of crimes, from petty misdemeanors to the most serious penalties.
As Patron of Action for Children, Kate paid a visit to the prison's Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) to stress the value of nurturing and stable connections in early life, especially in tough circumstances.
Amanda Taylor, the charity's Operational Director of Children's Services, later referred to the visit as "remarkable."
She stated that while the women were first hesitant to meet the royal, Kate's warmth and generosity rapidly put them at ease."
