Apple is likely to unveil a dramatic makeover for the 20th anniversary edition of its iPhone series, which is set to ship in the second half of 2027. The Cupertino-based corporation is expected to release a distinctive premium iPhone Pro model, as well as a foldable iPhone. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple will be unable to build its foldable iPhone and anniversary iPhone in India. The latter is likely to have a high price. It will most likely be made primarily of glass.
New Apple Phones May Be Made in China
Earlier this month, Mark Gurman said that Apple is planning a substantial redesign for the iPhone's 20th anniversary, including a foldable edition and a "bold new Pro model" with a more glass-focused design. According to the Bloomberg reporter's current weekly Power On email, Apple will continue to produce its 20th anniversary iPhone variants and foldable iPhone in China.
Gurman predicted that Apple will be unable to produce all US-bound iPhone models in India by 2027. He also stated that he does not expect the 20th anniversary iPhones, including the foldable and glass-centric versions, to be manufactured in India.
Apple won’t be able to make every US iPhone in India by 2027. I don’t see a scenario where 20 year anniversary iPhones - foldable & glass centric model - are made in India. Apple has never produced a major new design outside China for the first go-around. https://t.co/M40D8OtmAF

"While Apple's manufacturing in India has reached parity with China in terms of current iPhone quality, the 20th anniversary models are extraordinarily complex" , according to Gurman. According to him, these gadgets would require whole new components and manufacturing processes, and Apple will most likely be unable to build them outside of China by 2027. Furthermore, Gurman reminds out that Apple has never introduced a major new product design outside of China on its first try.
Meanwhile, Apple is stepping its efforts to increase iPhone manufacture in India, with intentions to assemble the bulk of US-bound smartphones there in the coming years. According to a recent Bloomberg article, the business produced $22 billion (approximately Rs.1,87,886 crore) worth of iPhone models in India in the fiscal year ending March, up nearly 60% from the previous year.
