Ben Affleck tells why his father cried in front of him for the 'first and only time'

 

Ben Affleck revealed that he witnessed his father, Timothy Byers Affleck, cry for the 'first and only time' in his life.

While picking up David Lynch's directorial film, The Elephant Man, from Criterion Closet, he openly mentioned how his father was emotionally attached to the film.

The Hollywood actor began by saying that seeing the movie was the first and only time he had ever seen his father weep.

Ben described the film's message as "a movie about what it means to be a human being." "And it is both heartbreaking and beautiful."

The biographical film starring John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins is based on the story of Joseph Merrick, a horribly disfigured man.

He added the DVD to his suitcase and went on, "And... it's associated with a very personal memory for me." That's definitely an excellent way to end. A huge amount of respect for what that entails and what it implies."

In an earlier interview with People, the Accountant 2 star praised his father for completing nearly three decades of recovery.

"A tremendous amount of respect for what that takes and what that means," Ben told the publication.

"Part of being an adult is realizing that your parents are simply people. They are not flawless. They were only trying their best. "As children, we expect perfection from our parents," he concluded before signing off.

Timothy Byers Affleck and Christopher Anne Boldt have two kids, Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck. Ben was 12 years old when his parents split in 1984.
