Cynthia Erivo talked about working with Ariana Grande while filming Wicked and its impending sequel, Wicked: For Good.
The Harriet star spoke at Canva's annual Canva Create event, where she told the crowd that singing with Grande "is really exhilarating and a little bit addictive."
Erivo kept going: "There's a wonderful synergy when you're working with a person who gets it, and they can look in your eyes and know exactly what you need, when you need it, without you having to say it."
The Worst of Me vocalist explained that "vulnerability and good listening" between the two of them were what made the songs an immediate smash.
Speaking about their relationship even after the filming was finished, Erivo stated that the two of them had a BFF language that allowed them to support one other even on the longest days of press tour.
"There were days when I'd say, 'I'm exhausted and don't have it today,' and she'd say, 'Well, I do. "What word do we need to use?" Erivo reflected on their press tour.
Similarly, Erivo was always there to help Grande when she needed it.
Erivo and Grande recently attended Cinema con 2025 in Las Vegas, alongside Wicked director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt, to showcase new footage from the upcoming sequel Wicked: For Good.
The film is scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.
