Liam Payne's father, Geoff Payne, has finally sighed a sense of relief months after the former One Direction star's terrible death.
Roger Nores, an Argentine businessman who was with Liam in his final days in Buenos Aires, has filed a move to dismiss the case against Geoff.
The businessman sued the For You singer's father in January for slander after he was charged with manslaughter in December 2024. Roger's accusations were dismissed in February, and he has now abandoned his case.
The paperwork acquired by People Magazine reads that Roger "gives notice that the above-captioned action is voluntarily dismissed without prejudice."
Previously, Roger said that Geoff's assertions were "false, contained material omissions, and many parts were not based on personal knowledge."
Roger claimed in a 263-page lawsuit that his connection with Liam was misread, that he "did not have a legal duty to Liam" and that they were simply "mutual friends."
In response, Payne's estate denied Roger's accusations, writing, "[Geoff] denies, in the strongest possible terms, that he has defamed or otherwise caused any harm to your client (in the manner set out by your correspondence of 8 January 2025 or otherwise)."
Geoff stated that Roger was a member of a "care group" and was intended to "keep Liam busy" because he "could not be left in a vulnerable position."
In addition to Roger, accusations against hotel manager Gilda Martin and receptionist Esteban Grassi were dismissed during a February hearing in Argentinian court.
The reason of Liam's unfortunate death on October 16 was determined to be polytrauma. On November 20, the singer was interred in Amersham, England.
