Meghan Markle appears to have cast shade at the royal family.
The Duchess of Sussex, who began dating Prince Harry in 2016, reflected on the early days of their relationship.
In her podcast conversation with presenter Jamie Kern Lima, Meghan said that her and Harry's relationship "went into the trenches" when they began dating.
In what looked to be a sly swipe at the royal family, Meghan said, "You have to imagine, at the beginning it's all butterflies - but then we immediately went into the trenches together."
"Right away, maybe six months into our relationship. So now, seven years later, with a little breathing room, you can just appreciate each other in a different manner," she explained. "And that's why I feel like it's more of a honeymoon period for us now."
While Meghan and Harry's relationship has long been the subject of "divorce rumours," the Duchess of Sussex has stated that she feels the Duke and her will be married "forever."
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who married in 2018, will stand down from their responsibilities as working royals in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are the parents of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who currently live in California.
