Willie Geist has been interviewing celebrities for nine years as a journalist, but Taylor Swift has yet to appear on one of his shows.
Geist, who presents Sunday Sitdown Live on Today, claimed that Swift is one of his ideal guests, but she has repeatedly declined his requests for interviews.
"Taylor Swift is usually on the list. [She] does not conduct a lot of interviews. She has wonderful people around her who are really courteous and polite when they decline, which I love. "But I will keep asking," Geist told Us Weekly.
Although the pop queen has come on Today several times, including a concert at 30 Rockefeller Center in 2010 and a chat with Hoda Kotb and the Cats ensemble about the movie musical in 2019, she has never appeared on Sunday Today.
Geist went on to say that Jay-Z is another musician he admires. "I would love to sit down with Jay-Z and just talk about his career, but also just the music [and] the culture as it was starting to leak out of New York City into the suburbs and how hip-hop culture became mainstream culture," he told me.
Even after a 9-year career in interviews, the presenter admitted, "There are always more people, no matter how long you've been doing it." And, of course, the culture creates new individuals."
The list will not be ending anytime soon, as he noted, "Timothée Chalamet was not a name anyone knew when we started nine years ago. And now I'd want to interview Timothée Chalamet. So, there's definitely a huge list of folks."
