Metallica made a triumphant return to the Dome stage, smashing records.
The metal band wowed audiences on Saturday night at the JMA Wireless Dome on the Syracuse University Campus, performing their best songs.
According to Syracuse.com, Metallica broke the Dome concert attendance record, which The Who established in 1982 with 47,319 people.
The band performed For Whom the Bell Tolls, Nothing Else Matters, Master of Puppets, and other songs for a sold-out stadium audience.
The layout was purportedly designed to accommodate a large audience by featuring a "snake pit" in which many of the fans adjusted themselves. Despite the fact that the large circular football field was packed with people sat around the stadium, as well as thousands standing on the floor and then within the snake pit, more room was made.
Metallica's Saturday night concert was their first at the Dome and their first in Syracuse since 1996, when they performed at Lollapalooza.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trio, comprised of singer-guitarist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, bassist Robert Trujillo, and guitarist Kirk Hammett, is one of the most touring bands of all time, having sold over 125 million albums worldwide.
