Zoom introduced numerous new enterprise-focused features this week, broadening its agentic capabilities. The San Jose-based communications technology business is launching numerous AI agents in the Zoom Workplace, including Custom AI Companion, Zoom Tasks, and others. The firm is also adding new capabilities to its existing products, including Zoom Phone, Whiteboard, and Zoom CX. The new features come a month after Zoom introduced its agentic approach and outlined a roadmap for future additions.
Zoom launches new agentic features for enterprises
In a news statement, the business announced the availability of agentic tools including the Custom AI Companion, Voice Recorder, Tasks, and Custom Avatars. Aside from that, it is providing new capabilities for Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Whiteboard, Zoom Revenue Accelerator, and others.
Zoom Tasks is a new function being introduced to the AI Companion. It can identify, manage, and finish tasks within Zoom Workplace. It may automatically generate tasks from Zoom Team Chat, Mail, or Docs and transform them into actionable tasks for users to complete themselves or delegate to the AI Companion.
Tasks can also offer insights and suggest future steps. Furthermore, the functionality makes use of the centralized task management page to allow the entire team keep track of its operations. Zoom Tasks is now available in Zoom Workplace plans. The AI Companion features are only available to premium users.
Custom AI Companion: Features and Pricing
Custom AI Companion is also being released for corporations. It's an AI agent powered by Zoom AI Studio. It is essentially a customized version of the AI Companion that can interact with integrated third-party AI agents to perform a variety of activities. According to the business, the agent will support Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Google's Agent to Agent Protocol to allow for smooth connectivity to external tools.
Aside from that, the Custom AI Companion may link to corporate data using the new "Bring Your Own Index (BYOI)" capability. Zoom claims that the tool can be integrated with data sources such as project management software, cloud storage, email accounts, and client databases.
Custom AI Companion will also include the Custom Avatars for Zoom Clips capability. It may be used to produce an AI-generated video. The footage will have an avatar in the user's image speaking a script submitted by the user. According to Zoom, these recordings may be utilized for staff onboarding, project briefings, and other purposes. The corporation is also implementing additional controls to guarantee that the tool is not used to create inappropriate or damaging videos.
Custom Avatars are now available as an add-on to the Custom AI Companion, but the business intends to distribute them alone in May. The Custom AI Companion add-on costs $12 (approximately Rs. 1,020) per user every month.
Other Notable Features
A new Voice Recorder feature in AI Companion transcribes, summarises, and captures action items from Zoom Meetings or Zoom Phone sessions, removing the need to take notes while interacting with people. It will be available via the mobile app later this month, with Rooms following later this year.
Zoom Team Chat is also increasing its linguistic support. The firm uses a native small language model (SLM) to enhance translations from eight languages: German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Portuguese-Brazilian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese (to English).
The site is also introducing a new feature that allows players to mention persons who are not currently in a chat or channel and share their contact information without joining them. AI Companion may also organize meetings with numerous participants, and the chatbot will take data from the entire platform to determine the ideal times for all invitees. It will then recommend schedule possibilities, which the user may accept or adjust.
Once the schedule has been finalized, the AI Companion will organize a Zoom meeting, add it to the participants' calendars, and recommend meeting topics and agendas. During meetings, users may also set up private group conversations with a single member or a selection of participants. Users will be able to give the groups personalized names.
The Zoom Revenue Accelerator will also be updated with agentic features. The agent can use admin-configured sales tactics, and administrators can deploy bespoke frameworks to ensure a repeatable approach based on what works for their organization. Zoom says that the new function employs large language models (LLMs) to analyze sales interactions and reveal critical consumer data.
Furthermore, a deal explorer tool in Zoom Revenue Accelerator will allow customers to discover sales information via natural language prompts. The tool can assess and show information from a customer's complete opportunity cycle. As an example, the business stated that sales professionals may ask questions like "What are the next steps for this opportunity?" or "Has pricing been discussed?" and the AI will respond contextually.
