WWDC 2025 is approaching, and although Apple is expected to showcase all of the sparkling new advancements coming to the iPhone with iOS 19, other gadgets in its portfolio may not be far behind. According to a seasoned journalist, the Cupertino-based tech behemoth is anticipated to release software updates for the tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS operating systems for Apple TV, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro, respectively. Apple is expected to debut a new user interface that will unify its device portfolio.
Apple's OS overhaul at WWDC 2025
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman noted the upgrades to Apple's operating systems that will be released at WWDC 2025 in the most recent issue of his Power On newsletter. Previously expected to be offered just for iOS, macOS, and iPadOS, the corporation is now believed to deliver visual upgrades to tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS as well. These will be built around a new software interface called "Solarium," which is said to be inspired by glass rooms that let in sunshine.
According to Gurman, the operating systems may have a "slicker and more modern" appearance. Apple's major goal is supposed to be to make the standard OS offer more elegant.
The writer believes that both tvOS and watchOS will be redesigned to have a more uniform feel with other popular products in Apple's range, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Meanwhile, visionOS is expected to undergo upgrades that will add more capabilities to Apple's mixed reality headset.
While details are kept under wraps, the firm has hinted at the use of glassy effects in the WWDC 2025 artwork, which has a 3D reflecting and transparent emblem of the Apple Park Rainbow Stage. Gurman has stated that Apple plans to integrate new visual system features with forthcoming OS releases to provide a more consistent experience across devices. In iOS 19, the business will apparently try to alleviate disparities in system activities between the aforementioned firmware and visionOS in terms of hamburger menus and menu buttons, the menu bar, and the button for quitting programs. According to the journalist, the basic programs will seem to be compatible with various operating systems.
Notably, Apple's WWDC 2025 will take place from June 9 to 13, and further details are expected to emerge as the developer conference approaches.
