On Tuesday, Microsoft unveiled two additional Copilot agents for its Microsoft 365 Copilot users. The first is called App Builder, and it uses text prompts to develop working programs. The second agent, called Workflows, has the ability to automate processes in SharePoint, Planner, Teams, Outlook, and other services like Approvals. Both agents will likely be made available to the wider user base after first being made available to a limited number of subscribers. It's interesting to note that the new functionalities were unveiled a few days after Google gave the AI Studio the ability to code vibes.
Now, Copilot Can Create Apps Using Text Prompts
The Redmond-based IT behemoth revealed the two new Copilot agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot subscribers in a blog post. Subscribers who have signed up for the Frontier program may now use both App Builder and Workflows. The App Builder agent will be introduced later this week, while the Workflows agent is now accessible on the Agents Store. The App Builder agent, which is essentially a vibe coding experience, can write code on its own to produce a working app after receiving directions from the user through text prompts. According to Microsoft, the agent allows for multi-turn engagement, which allows the user to share several prompts and continue to improve the app after it has been created. Additionally, it has the ability to summon interactive features like lists, calculators, charts, dashboards, and more.
Even those who are not familiar with coding may use the app since it allows users to preview it and visually check if they would like something different with each iteration. The business also claims that no database configuration is required for the deployment of the AI-generated software. As a backend, Microsoft Lists enables users to create and save new data.
Additionally, the in-app experience is based on users' Microsoft 365 information, which includes spreadsheets, notes, presentations, and documents, for greater control. The apps are also easy to share. The produced app may be shared by users by a link, much like a paper.
Workflows is the second AI agent. In essence, it is an automation tool that can automate calendar management, email and reminder sending, and team update sharing. Users may configure the automation by giving the agent natural language instructions, much like with App Builder. Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Planner, and services like Approvals are all compatible with this agent.
It's also easy to add new items or change the automatic behavior. In the same conversation, users only need to write a prompt, and the agent will carry it out. According to Microsoft, the functionality offers customers more stability because it is based on the same infrastructure that drives Agent Flows for corporations.
