Bindi Irwin provides an open health report weeks after emergency surgery

 

Bindi Irwin is "healing" from her devastating health scare.

The celebrity environmentalist went to Instagram on Sunday, May 25, to provide an emotional health update two weeks after having emergency surgery for a burst appendix and recurrent endometriosis.

"Healing," the television star began, "Thank you for your great words of encouragement and love. I'm sharing my health experience because more girls and women are looking for answers to their misdiagnosed agony. I've been dealing with endometriosis for almost 12 years. This condition is devastating and can leave you feeling quite alienated."

The author of You Are a Wildlife Warrior also shared photos in the candid post, including one of her standing in the rain with an umbrella, another of her posing beside a fence under a tree, a selfie of herself in red sunglasses, and a throwback photo from the hospital from her recent surgery.

Taking a stand to "raise awareness and change the narrative for women's health," Irwin addressed women suffering with endometriosis, stating, "I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care."

The revelation comes after Irwin skipped an annual event honoring her late father, Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, owing to a severe health concern.

According to the Mayo Clinic, "endometriosis is a condition in which cells similar to the lining of the uterus, or endometrium, grow outside the uterus," causing intense discomfort, irregular periods, and, in extreme cases, infertility.
