Since Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has failed to sustain its box-office success.
Several franchise results were disappointing, raising fears that the studio is experiencing'superhero weariness.'
Now, Disney CEO Bob Iger has conceded that the franchise's downfall was the result of a predilection for quantity over quality.
"We've learned over time that quantity does not always result in quality," he added on the investor call.
"Frankly, we've all confessed to ourselves that we lost a little concentration by producing too much. We feel that combining and letting Marvel focus more on their films would result in higher quality. "I believe the first and best example of this is 'Thunderbolts*'," Bob continued.
Previously, Robert Downey Jr. teased a meeting of old Marvel guards while attending a screening of Thunderbolts*.
Ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr. has turned to social media to reveal how the old team is forming.
The cast comprised Chris Hemsworth from Thor, Paul Rudd from Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie from Captain America, Simu Liu from Shang-Chi, and Winston Duke from Black Panther.
Vanessa Kirby, Ebon-Moss Bachrach, and X-Men actor Channing Tatum were also in attendance.
"Just wow!" Dinner and a performance with the Old Avengers. So cold, fresh, and deep. Congratulations to the New Avengers (and Bob). "#Thunderbolts," RDJ wrote.
