Ed Sheeran recently disclosed a "awkward" chat he had with his mentor, Sir Elton John.
The Shape of You singer claimed that before, the Rocket Man hitmaker, who is also his mentor and friend, mispronounced his surname.
In a frank interview with Capital Breakfast, the 34-year-old award-winning musician was shown a video of Elton calling him "Ed Shirr-ann."
He laughed as he explained that Ed eventually tried to fix the renowned musician's mispronunciation.
"I know, mate," he said. "I've actually had the awkward conversation with him, being like, 'I've known you for 15 years, it's not Shirr-ann', but it's just one of those things."
When the show's hosts stated that Ed "couldn't really argue with him (Elton John)," the Azizam crooner said, "Well, I can. I can and do, but I'm not sure; I believe it's rather good.
Ed Sheeran revealed that the Hakuna Matata talent's peculiar pronunciation had grown on him, saying, "It's just his way." It's as if my folks are continually calling me Edward. I am not Ed to them. "I'll always be Edward, and I believe I'll always be Ed Shirr-ann to Elton."
