Elon John recently called for a reform to copyright rules for artificial intelligence.
The Beatles legend Paul McCartney, the legendary Coldplay, and pop diva Dua Lipa were among the 400 musicians that endorsed the iconic pianist's campaign.
In the signed letter, writers and artists urged Sir Keir Starmer to update AI rules, emphasizing that failure to protect their work will compel them to "give away" it to tech companies.
"Creative copyright is the lifeblood of the creative industries," the letter declares emphatically.
It also states, "We are not against development or innovation. The creative sectors have always been early users of technology."
The letter emphasizes the importance of AI's link with creativity, saying, "We are wealth creators, we reflect and promote national stories, we are the innovators of the future, and Al needs us as much as it needs energy and computer skills."
"We urge legislators from all political parties and both Houses to vote in favor of the UK creative sector. Supporting us helps the innovators of the future. "Our work is not yours to give away," the letter clearly declares.
In this letter, posted on Sir Elton John's official Instagram account, all of the musicians ask the Prime Minister to support an amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Bill that would force developers to be honest with copyright owners about the use of their work to construct AI models.
