Google Maps has released a feature that allows you to scan screenshots on your iPhone and bookmark any detected places, as announced in March.
Google hopes that this Gemini-powered functionality would make it easier for individuals to screenshot sites they encounter on the internet, social media, and so forth. Instead of users needing to manually return to their gallery, remember the name, and then open Maps to find the location, Maps will recognize those locations and store them to a list.
Make sure you're using the most recent version of Google Maps and navigate to the "You" page. "Screenshots" will be added as a new private list, with a nice demo lesson playing.
When you snap a screenshot that contains location information, such as names and addresses, Google will automatically recognize it and display the Maps listing. A "Review" interface will highlight highlighted areas and prompt you to "Save" or "Don't Save." It will be added to the Screenshots list, and you can quickly relocate it to another collection.
If you choose "Allow Access to All Photos," auto-scan will locate fresh screenshots with locations and display them in a carousel for you to evaluate. Alternatively, you may browse your gallery and manually import photographs to evaluate. Below the screenshot carousel, there is a noticeable "Turn on/off auto-scan" button.
This is currently accessible in Google Maps for iOS (US English) and will be added to Android in the future.
