Kelly Clarkson is finally speaking out about the pressures of her daytime talk show position, following a strange disappearance earlier this year that had fans and insiders wondering about her future on television.
On Friday, at her first full-length concert in almost six months in Atlantic City's Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena, the 43-year-old pop diva and TV personality addressed the audience with unusual honesty, admitting that her rigorous talk show schedule has had a severe impact on her music career.
According to Page Six, she announced onstage, "We haven't done a performance in a while, y'all, because I have a talk show. It's like a completely other job."
Clarkson, who has two children, daughter River and son Remy, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, also discussed the difficulties of juggling her career life with single parenthood.
In response, she stated, "I am a single mother. That keeps me fairly busy, too."
Her comments come just weeks after the publication reported that Clarkson is considering leaving The Kelly Clarkson Show when her contract expires next year, citing a demanding schedule and a desire to spend more time down South.
Furthermore, a source close to the celebrity told the outlet, "Kelly's number one priority is her children, and they always will be."
Earlier this year, Clarkson was significantly missing from her program for several weeks with no official reason, sparking internal speculation that NBC was planning to replace her.
According to the Daily Mail, Today show veteran Hoda Kotb is one among the probable contenders vying for Clarkson's prized midday spot.
In this respect, a network insider disclosed, "She has a lot going on and the timing may be right for the next chapter," adding that Clarkson's choice may be influenced by the success of her impending music releases.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding her television future, Clarkson stated that she was "so happy" to return to the stage, even if just momentarily, according to the site.
