King meets with Obama and introduces the Royal House

 

Former US President Barack Obama was welcomed by King Harald V and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, according to a statement released by the Royal House of Norway on Wednesday.

It reported the former president of the United States was in Norway for a speech.

The message further highlighted that Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.

The Royal House reported in March that Crown Princess Mette-Marit's chronic condition had progressed to the point that she could no longer execute her responsibilities as scheduled.

Crown Prince Haakon's wife, Mette-Marit, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018.

The Royal House of Norway is linked to the British royal family by similar heritage and royal alliances.

King Harald V of Norway is a second cousin of King Charles III of the United Kingdom.

They are both descended from King George I of Greece and his wife, Grand Duchess Olga Constantinovna of Russia, and from King Christian IX of Denmark and his wife, Louise of Hesse-Kassel.
