Avengers: Endgame was a huge success, yet the Oscars only nominated it for visual effects. As a result, Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow in the franchise, criticized the Academy.
"How did this film not get nominated for an Oscar?" she wondered in an interview with Vanity Fair, adding, "It was an impossible movie that should not have worked, that really works as a film — and also, it's one of the most successful films of all time."
Scarlett also discusses her decision to return to the franchise following her character's death in Endgame.
"It would be very hard for me to understand in what capacity [returning] would make sense for me, for the character that I play," she told me.
"I miss my friends and wish I could spend my life with them, but what makes the character work is that her tale is complete. I do not want to bother with that. "It's also important for fans," the actress said.
Scarlett also expressed her displeasure with another aspect of the last Oscars: the tribute to James Bond.
"No comments. It seemed like an advertisement. What a strange thing. People were like, 'What the heck was that?'" she replied when questioned about it.
Scarlett, meanwhile, has a role in the forthcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth.
